processing thames path : the secret time machine

thames path was the first tour of the unseen part of london which i experienced. a 2-hour walk from greenwich tube station, the path led me first through an old town an through a construction site most probably one for the upcoming olimpics. the path took me behind old factories built to the edge of the thames, built of yellow london bricks, these factories managed to defy changing times of london. a scary tough peaceful walk it was...with my left eye concentrating on the interuption of the thames' surface by the winds and my right eyesight being blocked by the harsh and tall blackened walls of the factories.

as i endured the first hour of controlled direction, the materiality of the surrounding started to change.from the slow decay of past materials to a new form of shiny and durable machine-like building...the O2 arena, chanted by a couple of kids passing by...."the spiky building!". as i walked towards its entrance, a sudden jump of experience had occured. from the breezy river side to a controlled surrounding. big spot lights as a replica of the vitamin d giver(the sun) hung on top of tall solid tubes grouped together mimicing trees perhaps...rather than melting into its surrounding, i felt the "machine" as a spacecraft which landed. without any sense of time mapped (as wood creates creeking sounds when being stepped on day after day) i would say, this spaceship just landed here....whenever. assuming from its flimsy fabric body, it gives a temporary impression, suggesting that the "spacecraft" is'nt here to stay...
